Water Tower - Terrain Piece

Hi, this is my very first post to this blog.  Hopefully more to come, but please continue to read on.

It has been at least a year now that I have been playing Warmachine.  I visit my local gaming store once to twice a week to play the game with a few buddies who share the same interest. I thought to myself one day that if I was wanting to play this game at home that I would have very little terrain, or none really at all.  So I set out on this journey to build, but what should I build?  What makes a good table?  Oh, I know!  I need a theme, and being that I play with the faction Khador  I am going to try to build a winter fortress/town theme.

What do I build first?  Well that same day the Tylenol pills ran out (head was hurting from all this thinking). Hey, if I turn this pill container upside down it looks like a water tower!  Given that idea I went ahead and started to build.

My first step or problem was how to secure the pill container so that it doesn't move around.  I used some wooden skewers and with a knife shaved the ends to look like a tiny axe cut them out.

Next with a little bit of hot glue I got them together.  This was a little interesting, because as you can see one end us up and one end is down.  I find if you glue two sticks at a time it is easier to accomplish the tight fit around the pill container.
Then I took four long skewers and shoved them in the corners.  I then proceeded to glue the bottom skewers that form a square at the bottom of the tower to add support.  I add the diagonal skewers for design.
Next I cut out a pie shape from a cereal box and cut a pie piece out of the pie shape.  By joining the ends the cutout turns into a cone shape.  I glued this on the top, and also added some stripes to show where the steal straps would go.
Then I added some paid and viola!

This project turned out very nice.  The water tower is level and very sturdy, except from hands flying around the table.  I guess I could also add a base to this if I was worried about it tipping over.  So on to the next project!
